Kaco Gerätetechnik GmbH and Krannich Solar were among the first companies to become involved in the photovoltaic sector. Directors Ralf Hofmann and Kurt Krannich were convinced that generation from solar power would be an important energy source of the future and, right from the beginning, this foresight made Kaco and Krannich Solar formidable partners sharing a clear vision. Both companies believed in consistent quality and innovative technologies and experienced growth that far outpaced the norm in this sector. This successful business relationship has already endured for ten years.

It was in Pforzheim in Baden at a trade fair that preceded today’s Intersolar that the companies Kaco Gerätetechnik and Krannich Solar met for the first time. That was in the mid-1990’s at a time when the solar energy sector was still relatively informal and assessable. After the receipt of an invitation from Kaco, a meeting was held between the company directors at the Kaco premises in Heilbronn, with initial framework contracts being concluded for inverters in groups of 1-2 units, 3-4 units and 5-6 units.
Krannich was at this time still an installation firm for photovoltaic systems which, in the context of a 1000-rooftops campaign, had installed several photovoltaic systems on Southern German roofs. The business relationship was cemented through the installation contract for the firm’s own Kaco PV system being awarded to the brothers Kurt and Axel Krannich.

Commencement of the 100,000 rooftop program in 1999 saw Krannich Solar transformed into a specialised wholesaler for photovoltaic systems, and it still perceives its role today as that of a partner for installation firms. Numerous product and installation seminars for craft enterprises and electrical companies have been held in conjunction with Kaco Gerätetechnik GmbH to support installation firms.
Both firms took a giant leap abroad in 2004 with the establishment of independent subsidiaries in the United States, and they continue to work together there to ensure future success.

2007 saw Krannich Solar purchase 1500 inverters from Kaco, equivalent to an overall output of 10 MW, and this significant volume will be exceeded in 2008. Kaco inverters play a significant role in the realisation of gigantic mega-systems by Krannich Solar in Spain. The Spanish Krannich subsidiary alone has purchased 5 MW inverters to date from Kaco, and the delivery of a further 4 MW is planned for 2008, with all indications pointing to an upward trend in this respect.
