The Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy (DSIRE) is a comprehensive source of information
on state, local, utility, and selected federal incentives that promote renewable energy. DSIRE now
includes state and federal incentives
for energy efficiency.

The State Energy Alternatives web site is intended to provide:

  • A brief, non-technical overview of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies;
  • An objective and policy neutral description on public policies that may affect the use of alternative energy technologies; and
  • A snapshot of the alternative energy resource base in each state.

Information on this site is framed in terms intendedto be understood easily by non-technical readers.State Energy Alternatives was developed by the State and Local Initiatives group (SALI) at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, in collaboration with the National Conference of State Legislatures. Programs in the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) at the U.S. Department of Energy provided funding.
